Maintenance
Maintenance Tips
-Rotate your tires every other oil change or every 5k-8k miles. Uneven tire wear causes extra stress on drivetrain components.
-If your car over heats, pull over immediately! Do not attempt to check the fluids, as there is pressure in a hot system and you risk severe burns to yourself. It is best to have it towed to a shop.
-Change your oil every 3,000 miles or as recommended in your owner's manual.
-Periodically have your battery cables and terminals cleaned and inspected to insure a good electrical connection.
-Replace your fuel filter every 24 months or 30,000 miles, or as recommended by your owners manual.
-Change the spark plugs every 24-30 months or 30,000 miles unless other wise specified. There are some 100k mile spark plugs available.
-If you replace fuses, always do it with a fuse of the same amperage, if there is a continued problem, have the electrical system checked proffesionally.
-Replace your timing belt at the manufacturer's recommended mileage. A broken timing belt can cause internal engine damage, and will cost much more than changing it before hand.
-Synthetic motor oil can be a good choice for vehicles with high performance or super charged engines, vehicles used for towing, especially in extreme weather. Although it costs more initially, it can improve fuel mileage doesn't require service as often as mineral based oils.

General Car Care Tips
-Use air conditioning sparingly to conserve fuel.
-Avoiding high speeds when possible can improve mileage up to 15%, 55mph instead of 65 mph
-Clean out extra weight and cargo
-Keep your tires properly inflated and they will last longer.
-Get a check over and tune- up every 30k miles. Damage to tune up items, such as spark plugs, or the transmission components can add to poor gas mileage.
- Using high quality synthetic motor oil reduces friction, and can improve gas mileage.
-Keep your car clean, debris on the under carriage can lead to corrosion of drive train parts.
-Check your oil often; low oil levels over work the engine.
-If your car has overdrive, use it as soon as you are going the appropriate speed. This conserves fuel greatly. As well as using cruise control.
-Avoid sudden starting and stopping, throttling the gas continually decreases fuel mileage.
